Soleil Power has built the lithium ion battery used to power the first tractor ever to be built in East Africa. This project is in collaboration with the International University of East Africa and Regenerators.
The tractor is run by electric hub motors which are charged by 4 Soleil Power rechargeable batteries, and are available or hire. It is simple to use, affordable, and low maintenance since it has no engine. The Soleil Power batteries are charged via solar energy, and can be swapped out when they need to be recharged.
Tractors are usually only affordable to large-scale farmers, meaning most farmers in Uganda are still using manual labor for agriculture. This project is leading the push to mechanize agriculture in Uganda.
Soleil Power is excited to be a part of supporting the introduction of regenerative farming to Uganda.
